How to find local clients on Google Maps

Last updated: 27 October 2026

The shops and trades you can help are nearly all on Google Maps: that is where to look for them. This method is for web design, SEO and local marketing agencies, and for freelancers who sell a service to businesses in their area.

1. Pick a trade and an area

Start with a trade you already have a pitch for: a website, local SEO, reviews, social media. Then choose the area: a city, the map on screen, or a whole country with a country plan.

In SweepLead, you type several queries and several places at once ("plumber", "heating engineer", "electrician", in three cities): the queue runs on its own.

2. Collect

Collection runs in a Chrome tab. For each listing, SweepLead records the name, category, address, phone number, website, rating and number of reviews. With Pro, it then visits each business's website to find its emails, other phone numbers, social profiles and contact form.

3. Keep the listings that match your offer

The export can keep only listings with an email, with a phone number or without a website; the rest is sorted in Excel, using the columns.

A business without a website has no email in the file: SweepLead finds emails on websites. For these prospects, the phone number and address do the job.

4. Get in touch

A measured example

On 26 October 2026, searching "car valeting" in Hereford, then in Worcester, England, returned 201 distinct listings, 76 of them with an email found on the business's own website. How emails are found.

For an agency

The Agency plan gives 3 seats, 600,000 listings a month and every country plan, for €29.90 a month; collecting for your clients is allowed.
