Best Google Maps scraper Chrome extensions, tested
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Short answer: to get Google Maps businesses with their emails into an Excel file, SweepLead gave the most complete result of the six extensions in our test: 120 listings, 40 emails, Excel or CSV export. Instant Data Scraper exports without emails; Scrap.io Maps Connect shows emails but has no export.
We installed six Chrome extensions that come up when you look for a Google Maps scraper, and ran the same search with each one on the same day: "plumber" in Newcastle upon Tyne, England, on 30 October 2026. SweepLead is one of the six, and it is our own product: weigh what follows accordingly. We report what we saw, including where another extension does better.
The results
| Extension | Map it reads | Listings from one search | Emails | Export | Free version |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| SweepLead | Google Maps | 120 | 40 found on the businesses' websites | Excel or CSV | 200 listings a month, 50 of them with email |
| Instant Data Scraper | Any page, Google Maps included | About 120, after scrolling the list by hand | None | Excel or CSV | Free |
| Scrap.io Maps Connect | Google Maps | Adds details under the 120 listings on screen | An email icon on 55 of the 120 | No export in the extension | Free, no account |
| Maps Scraper by Presto | Bing Maps and OpenStreetMap | 0 in our test | — | Excel or CSV | Up to 40 records |
| Map Scraper & Business Email Finder (map-scraper.com) | Bing Maps | 16 per map view | Not checked | CSV and Excel buttons; no file came out in our test | Not checked |
| Maps Extractor by Leads Extractor | Bing Maps | Not tested: it asks you to sign in to Chrome and turn on Sync | — | — | — |
Every search was run in a fresh Chrome profile with only the extension being tested. Google Maps shows at most about 120 businesses for a search, so 120 is the ceiling for any tool that reads one search; on our test day the list ended at exactly 120.
Each extension, in short
SweepLead
One search returned 120 listings in 2 minutes 45 seconds: SweepLead then visited each business's website and found an email for 40 of them; 117 listings had a phone number. The same search across the North East England demo grid returned 1,016 distinct listings, 338 of them with an email, in about 26 minutes: the grid repeats the search from 7 points, and splits the busiest ones, which is how it gets past the 120-result limit. How the grid works.
What it does not do: no review text, no API, and the Google Maps version is installed by hand from a ZIP file. Our test copy had a paid licence; on the free plan the single search gives the same 120 listings, with up to 50 emails a month.
Instant Data Scraper
A general-purpose extension that turns any list on a web page into a table. On Google Maps it picked up the results list after we asked it to try another table, and once we had scrolled the list down to the end by hand, it held about 120 rows with names, ratings, addresses and phone numbers. Its "infinite scroll" option did not scroll the Google Maps list in our test. Instant Data Scraper copies the list on screen; SweepLead visits each website and brings back the email.
Scrap.io Maps Connect
A free companion to the Scrap.io web service. It adds a strip of icons under each Google Maps listing: website, phone, email, contact page and social profiles. In our search it showed an email for 55 of the 120 listings, more than the 40 SweepLead found. You read them one listing at a time: the extension has no export, which is what the paid Scrap.io web app is for.
Maps Scraper by Presto
This version reads Bing Maps and OpenStreetMap, not Google Maps. Its window counted 0 records after our Bing Maps search, which showed 35 plumbers; we could not find what we did wrong. The free licence is capped at 40 records.
Map Scraper & Business Email Finder
Works on Bing Maps. After "Start finding", it counted the 16 businesses of the map view and asked us to drag the map to get more. The download menu offered CSV and Excel, but no file arrived in our test.
Maps Extractor by Leads Extractor
Works on Bing Maps. It asks you to sign in to Chrome with a Google account and turn on Sync before it shows a licence, so we did not test it.
What to take from this
- Many "Google Maps scraper" extensions on the Chrome Web Store read Bing Maps. That is the case for three of the six here, and for the store versions of MapsLeads and MapsScraper.net (comparison). Bing lists far fewer businesses than Google Maps in most places.
- One search, one ceiling. Every tool that reads a single Google Maps search stops at about 120 listings. Covering a city or a country means repeating the search over a grid.
- Emails come from websites. Google Maps does not show them. Scrap.io and SweepLead look them up; Instant Data Scraper does not.
